Scensibles Transitions to 100% Recycled Content

Menstrual product disposal system supports circular economy

Scensibles, personal disposable bags for menstrual care bags, are now made using 100% recycled post-consumer plastics, certified by Intertek to meet the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), allowing the product to support a circular economy where plastic products are reused and repurposed, rather than relying on the production of virgin materials. Additionally, Scensibles outer box packaging, made entirely from recycled paperboard materials, is fully recyclable after use.

For over a decade, Scensibles has been committed to breaking the stigma surrounding the safe and sanitary disposal of personal care products. Inspired by “Do Not Flush” signs and the often inadequate conditions in restroom stalls, Ann Germanow, the founder and president, recognized that such environments left individuals feeling uncomfortable and unsafe, custodial staff unsupported and facilities burdened by high costs from toilet clogs and plumbing repairs. Scensibles provides a dignified, hygienic, and sustainable solution for disposing of nonwoven products in both commercial and residential settings.

Scensibles perfectly-sized personal disposal bags feature a contemporary gray-on-pink pattern, easy-tie handle closure, and are embedded with an antimicrobial additive and fresh fragrance. Packaged for one-bag-at-a-time dispensing from compact dispensers and waste receptacles, Scensibles enhance restrooms by controlling odors, providing discreet disposal, reducing the risk of exposure to blood and body fluids, minimizing accidental flushing of wipes and tampons, and reducing environmental harm in lakes, rivers, and oceans. As of August 2024, the product line is now even “greener.”

“With increasing customer usage in facilities worldwide, we are pleased to make the necessary shift to a more sustainable material for our leading personal care disposal bags. Our customers appreciate how Scensibles not only help reduce plumbing costs and minimize pollution but also contribute to a healthier environment by promoting responsible disposal practices, ultimately creating cleaner and safer restrooms for custodial staff and users alike,” says Germanow.

For installation in away-from-home restrooms, Scensibles are available through Hospeco Brands Group, a market leader in the distribution and manufacturing of a full line of personal care, cleaning, and protection products to serve the janitorial, industrial supply, automotive, foodservice, healthcare, and hospitality markets. Scensibles branded packaging is available for purchase online through Amazon and Walmart, in stores at over 100 Wegmans Food Markets and the Scensibles website (scensiblesbags.com).
